Reading Time Estimator is a Chrome browser extension that estimates how long articles take to read and shows a live reading progress bar. We are committed to your privacy. This policy explains exactly what data the extension handles and how.
None. Reading Time Estimator does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. The extension has no analytics, no tracking pixels, and makes no network requests of any kind beyond loading the extension itself from the Chrome Web Store.
Your preferences (reading speed and progress bar colour) are saved using Chrome's chrome.storage.sync API. This data:
Reading Time Estimator requests the following Chrome permissions:
The extension does not access your browsing history, passwords, cookies, or any other browser data beyond the current page's visible text content (used locally to count words).
The extension injects a small script into web pages you visit in order to detect article text, count words, and render the progress bar. This processing happens entirely within your browser. The page content is never extracted, stored beyond the current session, or transmitted anywhere.
Reading Time Estimator does not integrate with any third-party services, advertising networks, analytics platforms, or SDKs.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date. We will not make changes that reduce your privacy protections.
